Ohio State placed three golfers in the top five in the first round of the Big Ten Championship, seizing the lead at the Dye Course at French Lick (Ind.) Resort.
Ohio State, the No. 25 team in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, shot a 13-over 301, just one stroke better than Nebraska. Freshman Jessica Porvasnik led the Buckeyes with a 1-over 73 – good enough for second place individually. Ohio State's Zoe-Beth Brake finished the first round in a tie for third after shooting a 2-over 74, and Katja Pogacar is in a tie for fifth after shooting 75.
Nebraska was led by Cassidy Stelzmiller, who shot even par en route to gaining the individual lead. She made three bogeys and three birdies on the Dye Course.
Michigan State (17 over), Penn State (18 over) and Northwestern (19 over) round out the top five.
