Georgia Tech, Schniederjans win ACC titles

Georgia Tech improved its score every round at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship, finishing with a tournament-low 273 and another conference championship.

The Yellow Jackets, ranked No. 2 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, finished at 25-under 839 Sunday at the Old North State Club in New London, N.C., fending off Florida State and winning its seventh conference title in nine years.

Ollie Schniederjans, the No. 4 individual in Golfweek's rankings, took medalist honors, shooting a 12-under 204. Schniederjans made bogey only four times in 54 holes, starting the tournament with a 7-under 65 and finishing it with a 3-under 69.

Georgia Tech's Anders Albertson tied for second at 7 under with Virginia's Denny McCarthy.

No. 25 Florida State made a charge at the title, taking a runner-up finish at 19-under 845.

Jack Maguire and Hank Lebioda nabbed top fives for the Seminoles. Lebioda started the tournament with a 4-under 68 and Maguire wrapped it up with a 5-under 67.

Clemson took third at 13 under, Virginia Tech came in fourth at 7 under and Virginia placed fifth at 2 under.
