Corey Conners shot his third consecutive 68 on Wednesday at the Canadian Amateur to take a one-shot lead into the final round in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Conners, a recent Kent State graduate from Listowel, Ontario, is at 8-under 204 through 54 holes at Elmhurst Golf and Country Club. Sam Saunders of Albuquerque, N.M, and a rising senior at New Mexico, is second after a 1-over 71.

Conners held a three-shot lead heading into the final four holes, but he finished bogey-bogey-birdie-bogey, allowing Saunders to stay close.

Brian Bullington of Frankfort, Ill., and a rising senior at Iowa, is in solo third after a 1-under 69 Wednesday.

The biggest mover of the third round was Rico Hoey, a USC sophomore from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., who shot 5-under 65, the lowest score of the tournament.

The champion will earn an exemption into the PGA Tour’s 2015 RBC Canadian Open and next week’s U.S. Amateur, unless already exempt. readers: We value your input and welcome your comments, but please be respectful in this forum.
