Quick hits: Tiger & Phil's front nine in Instagram

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Throngs of fans lined the fairways early Thursday morning, following the marquee group of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Padraig Harrington.

While many of the cheers were for Woods and Mickelson, the front nine actually belonged to Harrington, who was 1 under against 1-over 37s for both Woods and Mickelson.

No. 10, Par 5, 590 yards

Woods just slips off the fairway from the tee, while Mickelson goes beyond the gallery on the left. Mickelson nearly makes a chip shot from in front of the green for birdie, but taps in for par. Woods takes three to get there, but leaves his birdie attempt an inch short and also posts par.

No. 11, Par 3, 210 yards

Mickelson goes way left off the tee, then hits a fantastic flop shot to 8 feet – but misses the par putt. Woods misses the green right, hits a subpar chip and two-putts also for bogey.

No. 12, Par 4, 467 yards

A pair of pars here for both Mickelson and Tiger.

No. 13, Par 4, 350 yards

Both Mickelson and Tiger hit the fairway, with Tiger's wedge finding the island green closest to the pin. But no one converts on their birdie putts.

No. 14, Par 3, 217 yards

Mickelson finds the green and two-putts for par. Tiger finds the gallery on the left, hits a flop shot that settles 12 feet from the cup, but misses the putt for his second bogey of the round.

No. 15, Par 4, 435 yards

Mickelson finds the left rough here, has to lay up with water in play and fails to get up-and-down, dropping a shot. Tiger splits the fairway and finds the green, about 20 feet left of the cup. His birdie attempt looks on line the entire roll, but fades right at the end and he taps in for par.

No. 16, Par 4, 508 yards

Big tee balls for both Mickelson and Tiger here, finding the fairway. Tiger comes up short of the green, but chips in for his first birdie of the day. Mickelson finds the green, then two-putts for par.

No. 17, Par 4, 472 yards

Tiger finds the fairway and green, but misses a 25-footer for birdie and settles for par. Mickelson finds a fairway bunker off the tee, a greenside bunker with his second; he fails to get up and down, posting bogey.

No. 18, Par 5, 542 yards

Tiger finds a fairway bunker off the tee and has to simply lay up from a bad lie in the sand. His third finds the green, but 30 feet away and he two-putts for par. Mickelson gets near the green in two and registers a birdie.
