Two days after we learned of the nine automatic qualifiers for the U.S. Ryder Cup team, we now know the 12 members of the U.S. Junior Ryder Cup team.

The PGA of America announced Tuesday the six boys and six girls who will travel to Perthshire, Scotland, to compete in the Sept. 22-23 event at Blairgowrie Golf Club.

Sam Burns of Shreveport, La., and Gordon Neale of Trabuco Canyon, Calif., earned automatic spots after finishing first and second, respectively, at the Junior PGA Championship. Austin Connelly of Irving, Texas, Brad Dalke of Hobart, Okla., Davis Riley of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Cameron Young of Scarborough, N.Y., earned captain's picks, being selected by U.S. captain Brian Whitcomb, a past PGA of America president.

On the girls side, Kristen Gillman of Austin, Texas, winner of the Junior PGA and the U.S. Women's Amateur, leads the way. She earned an automatic spot along with Junior PGA runner-up Bethany Wu of Diamond Bar, Calif., and girls' ranking leader Andrea Lee of Hermosa Beach, Calif.

Sierra Brooks of Sorrento, Fla., Amy Lee of Brea, Calif., and Hannah O'Sullivan of Paradise Valley, Ariz., were captain's picks.

“We have an incredibly talented group of youngsters on the team this year,” Whitcomb said in a release. “Their match-play experience, as well as the character of these individuals, will give us a great opportunity to retain the cup in Scotland next month.”

The U.S. has won the past three Junior Ryder Cups.
