Dredge leads, Donaldson a shot back in Prague
Saturday, August 23, 2014
Bradley Dredge fired a 6-under 66 Saturday at Albatross Golf Resort in Prague to grab a two-shot lead at the Czech Masters.
Dredge made six birdies and no bogeys, finishing 54 holes at 12 under. The three-time European Tour winner finished second last week at the Made in Denmark tournament.
"It wasn't my best ball-striking round but it was a good scoring round, that's for sure," Dredge told Associated Press. "I've had no bogeys since the first day and it's nice when you do that. All the birdies count then and I've been delighted with the last two rounds, so if I can do that again tomorrow I would be over the moon."
The Welshman started the week 89th in the Race To Dubai.
Soren Kjeldsen and Jamie Donaldson are tied for second at 10 under. Donaldson, who shot 71 Saturday, needs a T-7 finish or better this week to secure one of nine automatic spots on the European Ryder Cup team. Another Ryder Cup hopeful, Stephen Gallacher, is tied for fifth at 8 under after a third-round 71.
