New Mexico Lobos

Preseason rank: 16

Final 2013-14 Golfweek/Sagarin ranking: 23

2013-14 in review: After reaching match play at the 2013 NCAA Championship, the Lobos failed to get to Prairie Dunes last spring, finishing sixth at the Auburn Regional. However, New Mexico still won four tournaments, including the Mountain West Conference Championship, while Gavin Green notched three individual victories in addition to winning the Western Refining All-America Classic.

Notable departures: None

Key returnees: Seniors Gavin Green, Sam Saunders and Victor Perez

Newcomers of note: Freshmen Isaac Alderete, Jake Hendrix and Randy Ross

Circled on the fall calendar: Tavistock Collegiate Invitational, Oct. 19-21, Lake Nona (Fla.) Golf and Country Club

Fall outlook: The Lobos return a lot of experience and talent this season, including the senior trio of Green, Saunders and Perez. Senior Sean Romero, junior Joe Abella and sophomore Andrej Bevins will also see a lot of action this fall while sophomore Mitch Johnson and freshman Andre Garcia could also factor into the lineup at times. The fall schedule is tough, but come spring, New Mexico will be well-tested and head coach Glen Millican will have a lot of capable pieces to work with.

Coach's perspective: “It’s going to be tough for our new guys to break the lineup. Internally, we’re going to be really competitive.” – head coach Glen Millican readers: We value your input and welcome your comments, but please be respectful in this forum.
