Florida

Preseason rank: 20

Final 2013-14 Golfweek/Sagarin ranking: 17

2013-14 in review: The Gators won the Cougar Classic right out the gate a year ago – a title defense – for their only season victory. A third-place finish in the Allstate Sugar Bowl, which reliably features a deep cross-country field and tough golf course, was another highlight, as was a trip to the national championship, which ended in a tie for 18th.

Notable departure: Elcin Ulu

Key returnees: Sarah Schober, Maria Torres, Anna Young

Newcomers of note: Taylor Tomlinson

Circled on fall calendar: Cougar Classic

Fall outlook: Florida brings in one of the top freshmen in the country in Tomlinson. She could replace Ulu, who often played the No. 5 spot for the Gators last spring. The question mark in this roster is Camilla Hedberg. The affable Spaniard has loads of potential – showcased during her first two seasons with Florida when she led the team in scoring both years and won twice. Hedberg struggled with her game last year and averaged seventh-best on the team. If Hedberg returns to form and Shober, Torres and Young remain steady, Florida will be tough in SEC country.
