Northwestern Wildcats

Preseason rank: 13

Final 2013/14 Golfweek/Sagarin ranking: 14

2013-14 in review: Northwestern’s most notable performance came late in the spring at the Liz Murphey Collegiate, a match-play event. The Wildcats broke USC’s 18-hole scoring record from the 2012-13 NCAA Championship, and took the top spot on the match-play bracket. Aside from that headline, notable Northwestern performances included a victory at the Hurricane Invitational and a third-place finish in the Big Ten Championship.

Notable departure: Elizabeth Szokol

Key returnees: Kacie Komoto, Hana Lee, Kaitlin Park, Suchaya Tangkamolprasert

Newcomers of note: Sarah Cho, Hannah Kim

Circled on fall calendar: Annika Intercollegiate

Fall outlook: Northwestern returns the core of its squad from last year, including its low four scorers. The explosive round at the Liz Murphey was a sign of what this squad can accomplish. Northwestern will be hard to beat in the Big Ten. Cho, who helped Torrey Pines (Calif.) High School to four consecutive state titles, and Kim, who finished third at the 2012 Callaway Junior World Championship, are excellent additions from California.
