Central Florida Knights
Preseason rank: 15
Final 2013/14 Golfweek/Sagarin ranking: 21
2013-14 in review: The Knights’ stock rose considerably last season as the team never finished outside the top 5 until the NCAA East Regional. UCF put itself on the map by traveling west to the Edean Ihlanfeldt in the fall and finishing third, then finishing second at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. UCF won its home tournament, and finished runner-up four other times.
Notable departure: Kaitlyn Price
Key returnees: Ashley Holder, Fanny Cnops
Newcomer of note: Laura Sojo
Circled on fall calendar: Cougar Classic
Fall outlook: Head coach Emily Marron will benefit from returning much of her roster this season. Led by Holder, a Florida native, and Cnops, a Belgian player who followed Marron from UNC Greensboro to UCF, the Knights can compete with the top teams in the nation. UCF has the advantage of bringing momentum from last season. The schedule is more local this year – there will be no trip west – but the Cougar Classic and Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate feature strong fields with top teams from both coasts.
