UCLA, USC collide at Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge
The top four women's teams in the country will battle it out Sunday through Tuesday at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge.
The NCAA Champion USC Trojans will look to win their eighth consecutive tournament at the Challenge, which is held at the Palos Verdes (Calif.) Golf Club.
But standing in the way of the Trojans is the nation's top team in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings – UCLA. The Bruins have won twice in a row at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenges and four times total.
The tournament also features seven of the top 10 individual players in the country: UCLA's Alison Lee (No. 1) and Erynne Lee (No. 3), Duke's Yu Huan Liu (No. 6), USC's Sophia Popov (No. 7) and Annie Park (No. 10), Oklahoma State's Julie Yang (No. 8) and Pepperdine's Marissa Chow (No. 9).
The 16-team field includes: Arizona (No. 12), Arizona State (No. 7), Baylor (No. 60), Duke (No. 3), Florida (No. 18), Michigan State (No. 24), North Carolina (No. 28), Ohio State (No. 33), Oklahoma (No. 8), Oklahoma State (No. 11), Pepperdine (No. 6), USC (No. 2), Texas (No. 64), UCLA (No. 1), Wake Forest (No. 27) and Washington (No. 4).
Tee times for the tournament pitted three top-15 golfers together, with Popov, Yang and Duke's Laetitia Beck (No. 14) playing in the same group.
