Player diary: Alabama's Emma Talley (Part 6)
Tuesday, February 11, 2014
Well we are back to golf season! Even though it has been oddly cold in Alabama, it has been much warmer than my hometown in Kentucky. Our team has been able to practice almost every day despite the weather conditions. My teammates and I have been working really hard this off-season and I hope that it pays off this spring! Our first tournament is the Puerto Rico Classic, which we won last year. The only thing we can do going into our first tournament is to play one shot at a time and have fun. The preparation for this tournament has been solid, but we still have a little less than a week of work to do!
Thankfully, I was blessed to travel to the Curtis Cup practice session the first weekend in February to get in some good golf. The practice session was full of fun and good golf. I have known most of the girls for a long time so just getting to spend a good weekend with them was unbelievable! The airline lost my clubs on the way out so I had to borrow a set the first day, but I still played pretty well. Unfortunately, on the way back to Tuscaloosa I had trouble traveling too, but because of an awesome weekend everything was OK. Now that I am back at school, my coach from home is traveling down for a lesson. I cannot wait to see him because we made lots of good swing progress this winter and I hope to be on the right track now. The rest of my life is on the right track as well.
Our team worked out really hard and we are continuing our hard work in the weight room each week. The blessings we have being here at Alabama are amazing. Our weight room is top notch and even though we are there early early in the morning you walk out of the gym knowing you put in good work. We also have been eating well as a team and have been working hard on becoming healthy, strong golfers. The off-season has been awesome and hopefully all the hard work in the gym and nutrition will be evident while we have our time at the beach in Puerto Rico!
Roll Tide and God Bless,
