Michigan downs Illinois at Big Ten Match Play

Michigan was the only team that won twice on Friday at The Big 10 Match Play Championship.

Michigan, Ohio State, Minnesota and Indiana were all victorious in the morning moving into matches against the top-four seeds of Illinois, Iowa, Purdue and Northwestern.

In the afternoon, Illinois, the 2013 NCAA Championship runner-ups, was defeated by Michigan 3-2, while Iowa defeated Ohio State with a 2-2-1 record. Purdue and Northwestern won against Minnesota and Indiana, respectively.

Wisconsin and Michigan State pulled off victories in the afternoon over Nebraska and Penn State.

The matches continue Saturday morning at 7:30 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.
