For Arkansas, 68 was a great number this weekend.
Senior Sebastian Cappelen and sophomore Taylor Moore both shot 2-under 68s in the final round of the Gator Invitational, giving the Razorbacks the win at the star-studded tournament.
But the Arkansas women's golf team also benefitted from a round of 68. Senior Emily Tubert fired a 4-under 68 in the first round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Mar, Puerto Rico, Sunday. The senior's performance put the Razorbacks in the lead by seven strokes.
"We are off to a good start," Arkansas women's head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor said in a release. "We go there and got some good work in. Tubert did a great job leading us today. She has a good mental picture on this golf course and that is evident in the way she played."
Tubert fired four birdies on the back nine of the course en route to her first-round 68.
While Tubert still has some work to do to pick up the win, the men are able to tout there first win of the spring.
“I’m very proud of the team for coming out of the winter break with a lot of focus,” said men's head coach Brad McMakin, who has led Arkansas to 19 team wins. “I thought our approach from the start was really good and the guys were mentally prepared. Everyone contributed to this win. It was a complete team effort.”
