Arkansas survived windy conditions to win the Lady Puerto Rico Classic Tuesday at Rio Mar Country Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
The Razorbacks, ranked seventh in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, posted a final-round 8-over 296 to finish at 3-over 867, 14 shots clear of runner-up GRU Augusta.
"I’m excited that we could come to Puerto Rico and start the spring off with a win," said Arkansas coach Shauna Estes-Taylor. "It shows we are working in the right direction. It is a long season, but it is good to get a victory to build some confidence as we continue on this journey.”
Northwestern (22 over), Auburn (27 over) and Georgia (28 over) rounded out the top 5.
Alabama, ranked eighth by Golfweek, tied for sixth with North Carolina State and Purdue at 29 over. But the Crimson Tide did boast one of the individual co-medalists in Stephanie Meadow.
Meadow, Golfweek's second-ranked individual, closed with a 4-under 68 to finish at 5 under overall along with Purdue's Aurora Kan.
Arkansas' Gaby Lopez was third at 2 under while fellow Razorbacks Emma Lavy and Emily Tubert tied for fourth with North Carolina State's Brittany Marchand at even par.
