California stretched its lead to nine shots Thursday at the John Burns Intercollegiate while BYU's Justin Keiley shot 6-under 66 to take the individual lead at Wailua Golf Course in Lihue, Hawaii.
The Bears, searching for their fourth straight win in the event, are now 16 under through two rounds. BYU and Texas A&M are tied for second at 7 under after rounds of 6 under and 5 under, respectively.
Keiley's second-round 66 included eight birdies and was his best round of the season. It also moved him to 10 under overall, four shots clear of Cal's Joel Stalter, the defending medalist. First-round leader Erik Oja of Arizona is third at 5 under after shooting 75 on Thursday.
