Hyler, Lang to captain USA at WATC in Sept.

The U.S. Golf Association announced that past USGA President Jim Hyler and past USGA Women’s Committee Chairman Martha Lang will serve as the U.S. captains for the 2014 World Amateur Team Championships.
The women’s championship is set to take place Sept. 3-6, and the men’s Sept. 10-13, at Karuizawa (Japan) 72 Golf East. Hosted by the Japan Golf Association, the championship will be played on the Oshitate and Iriyama courses.
“Jim and Martha have ably served the USGA for many years, and we are very happy to have them as World Amateur Team captains,” said Daniel B. Burton, USGA vice president and chairman of the Championship Committee in a release.
Hyler joined the USGA Executive Committee in 2004 and was USGA president in 2010-11.
Lang joined the USGA Women’s Committee in 1999 and served as chairman in 2011-12. She won the 1988 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship. She also played in the 1992 Curtis Cup Team before captaining the team in 1996.
