Zach Johnson won the PGA Tour's first event of 2014, the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, Monday in Kapalua. Now he'll look to win for the third time in his last six official starts when he competes in this week's Sony Open.

Johnson will tee off at 12:30 p.m. local time (7:30 p.m. EST) on Thursday alongside K.J. Choi and Tim Clark. The trio will begin their first rounds 10 minutes after the trio of Jordan Spieth, Hideki Matusyama and defending Sony Open champion Russell Henley, who shot a tournament-record 24-under 256 in 2013.

Other notables in the field include reigning Masters champion Adam Scott, 2013 PGA Championship winner Jason Dufner, Matt Kuchar, a two-time winner last season on the PGA Tour, and 15-year-old Tianlang Guan, who is competing on a sponsor exemption.

Here are some more facts and figures on this week's tournament:

Top-ranked players, OWGR: 2, Adam Scott; 7, Zach Johnson; 8, Matt Kuchar; 13, Jason Dufner; 17, Jordan Spieth; 23, Hideki Matsuyama. Golfweek/Sagarin: 3, Scott; 4, Kuchar; 15, Johnson; 17, Matsuyama; 19, Spieth; 20, Chris Kirk; 21, Dufner; 23, Brendon Todd.

Short shots: Henley became the first player in 10 years to win in his PGA Tour debut and his tournament-record 24-under 256 ranks as the second-lowest 72-hole score in PGA Tour history. . . . Charles Howell III finished third here a year ago; he also finished third in 2005, and had runner-up finishes in 2007 and '12. In all, Howell has seven top-5 finishes at Waialae. . . . Champions Tour players Kenny Perry, Vijay Singh and Fred Funk are in the field. The Champions Tour kicks off its season next week with the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai.
