Mickelson: 'I feel fine,' ready to defend Phoenix title
Phil Mickelson arrived in Phoenix on Wednesday to defend his title at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
After making the cut last week in the Farmers Insurance Open, he withdrew because of lower-back pain. Mickelson arrived in Arizona and went to Whisper Rock Golf Club in Scottsdale, where he worked on his game. He said he is ready to return to competition Thursday.
“I had a good practice session, though I didn’t go full speed for much of it,” Mickelson said in a release from his agency, Lagardere Unlimited. “I feel fine. I expect to play and play well.”
Mickelson tees off at 11:15 a.m. EST Thursday off the 10th tee with Bill Haas and Ryan Moore.
Mickelson also indicated that he would play in next week's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
