Randy Keck resigns as Tulsa women's coach
Randy Keck, who led Tulsa's women to eight tournament victories in seven seasons as head coach, has resigned, the university announced.
Under Keck, the Golden Hurricane won the 2008 and '12 Conference USA championships and advanced to NCAA regionals four times. He was named Conference USA coach of the year in 2012.
Upon taking over the coaching reins in the 2007-08 season, Keck led Tulsa to four tournament titles that year. Tulsa won the UAB Fall Beach Blast in October but finished the spring at No. 129 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings.
“I appreciate the opportunity I've had to coach some wonderful student-athletes at the University of Tulsa," he said in a statement. "It's been a great experience, and I walk away with a wealth of knowledge gained from those athletes, my coaching peers and various administrators who have invested in me. I respect the decision to move the program in a different direction and wish the best for the community of the University of Tulsa. I look forward to the next opportunity and am hopeful that I can remain in coaching because that's where my true passion lies: instructing and guiding student-athletes to become successful lifelong players and respected adults.”
Keck came to Tulsa after three years as the head coach at Redlands Community College in El Reno, Okla., where his teams placed among the top 3 at the National Junior College Athletic Association national championship each season, including winning the 2006 title.
