Canadians Pendrith, Rank share Monroe lead
Friday, June 13, 2014
Two Canadians are camped atop the Monroe Invitational leaderboard entering the final round.
Taylor Pendrith, a recent Kent State graduate from Richmond Hill, Ontario, and Garrett Rank, a mid-amateur from Elmira, Ontario, are tied at 10-under 200 after three trips around the Donald Ross-designed Monroe Golf Club in Pittsford, N.Y.
Pendrith, the co-Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, spread eight birdies across a scorecard blemished by four bogeys in a 4-under 66 Friday. Rank, a member of Canada's national team, birdied his final three holes to salvage a sluggish round with a 68.
Adam Ball, a Virginia Commonwealth junior from Richmond, shot 66 to stand third at 8-under 202. Derek Bard (69) and Eric Brady (68) are tied for fourth at 203.
The final round is scheduled for early Saturday.
