Madison Pressel won the Symetra Tour’s Decatur-Forsyth Classic in a playoff over Ashley Tait for her first professional victory Sunday.
Big sister Morgan, who is gearing up for the U.S. Women's Open this week at Pinehurst No. 2, congratulated her via Twitter:
The US Open is boring...why wasn't the Symetra Tour on TV?!?! So proud of my sis and her first… http://t.co/GY0rdJQhWo— Morgan P Foundation (@MP_Foundation) June 15, 2014
Pressel and Tait tied at 6-under 210 in the 54-hole event after a three-shot swing occurred on the par-3 17th during the final round at Hickory Point Golf Club. Pressel, a 2013 Texas graduate, made birdie to Tait’s double bogey.
For Pressel and Tait, the playoff only took one hole. Pressel made a birdie on the par-4 18th when Tait, 27, made par.
Pressel finished with rounds of 67-71-72 in Decatur, Ill.
South Korea’s Hye-Min Kim and Canada’s Ashley Sholer tied for third at 4-under 212.
