Karlik captures Western Penn Am by four shots

Saturday, June 21, 2014

Trent Karlik fired a final-round, even-par 71 to secure a four-stroke victory at the Western Pennsylvania Amateur on June 17, with his 7-under 206 the fourth-lowest in tournament history.

Played at the Penn State Golf Courses – the first round on the White and final two on the Blue – Karlik made his move with a second-round, 5-under 66 to separate from former West Penn Open champion Arnold Cutrell.

The top six finishers were all mid-amateurs, fairly commonplace for the tournament, as only four players still in high school or college since 1990 have won the tournament.
