Udelhofen victorious in Wisconsin Match Play

Josh Udelhofen during the Wisconsin Match Play Championship on June 22.

Josh Udelhofen, a recent graduate of Clarke University, won the Wisconsin Match Play Championship with a 4-and-3 victory over Sam Frank at Eau Claire Golf and Country Club in Altoona, Wis.

Udelhofen, who was a three-time Midwest Collegiate Conference All-Conference selection and a member of the 2014 NAIA Ping All Region Team, held off Frank in a match that was all-square until Frank bogeyed the par-3 sixth while Udelhofen made par.

On the 371-yard par-4 8th hole, Udelhofen stuck his approach shot and made his birdie putt to go 2-up, giving him a lead he would never relinquish.

Udelhofen, who was ranked No. 1 in Golfstat’s top 30 MCC scoring list this past season, was also ranked 32nd nationally with a 73.0 scoring average. He had eight top 5 finishes in nine events for the Crusader’s and was medalist at the Clark, Dubuque and Loras Fall invites, along with the Mount Mercy Spring Invite.

Upcoming for Udelhofen is the crown jewel of the Wisconsin State Golf Association, the 113th Wisconsin State Amateur Championship, where Udelhofen will try to add another trophy to his collection as he takes on 168 of the state’s top golfers.
