Larrazabal takes 3-shot lead at BMW International
Pablo Larrazabal broke out of a four-way tie through the halfway point of the BMW International Open to take a three-shot lead heading into Sunday’s final round at Golf Club Gut Larchenhoff.
Larrazabal, who has yet to card a bogey in Cologne, Germany, shot 5-under 67 in the third round. He has a 54-hole total of 17-under 199.
The 31-year-old Spaniard is looking for his second victory on the European Tour this season as he won the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship in January.
Australian Richard Green shot a bogey-free 10-under 62 on Saturday to jump 51 spots on the leaderboard and into a tie for second with seven others. He carded eight birdies and an eagle during the third round. He went 7 under on holes 12-17.
In that seven-way tie for second, most notably chasing Larrazabal is world No. 2 Henrik Stenson (66), Italy’s Francesco Molinari (65), and 36-hole leaders Emiliano Grillo (70) and Rafa Cabrera-Bello (70).
There are another nine players tied for 10th, which includes Paul Casey, who fired a 9-under 63 Saturday, Oliver Fisher (65) Jamie Donaldson (65) and Danny Willett (71).
Due to inclement weather on Sunday, play is set to begin at 7 a.m. local time with a two tee start.
