Monday, March 3, 2014
Fresh off of a big win at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, UCLA will join with Pepperdine to host six top-15 teams in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings at the Bruin Wave Invitational. The tournament will take place Monday and Tuesday at El Caballero Country Club in Tarzana, Calif., and will include the No. 1 team in the country.
The field includes Arizona (No. 9), BYU, California (No. 30), Colorado, Cal State Northridge, Long Beach State, New Mexico State, Oklahoma State (No. 12), Oregon State, Pepperdine (No. 11), San Diego State (No. 43), USC (No. 1), UCLA (No. 2), UNC Wilmington, UNLV (No. 42), Washington (No. 4) and Washington State.
The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday at the par-72, 6,173-yard course.
UCLA freshman Alison Lee said the team was happy to top the Trojans last week at the Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate.
"We just hopefully can keep the momentum and keep working hard. We can't get ahead of ourselves or be laid back because they're really good as well so they can beat us again," Lee said.
USC topped UCLA by two strokes last year to win the tournament.
