Darius Rucker welcomes star-studded field
Some of the South's biggest stars are coming together for the Darius Rucker Invitational, including Rucker himself.
Six teams that appear in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings' top 10 will play 54 holes Friday through Sunday at the par-71, 6,142-yard Long Cove Club on Hilton Head Island, S.C., including defending champ Alabama.
The field includes Alabama (No. 10), Arizona State (No. 5), Arkansas (No. 6), Auburn (No. 27), Duke (No. 3), Furman, Georgia (No. 50), Kentucky (No. 17), LSU (No. 19), North Carolina (No. 26), Oklahoma (No. 8), South Carolina (No. 14), Stanford (No. 4), Tennessee, Vanderbilt (No. 15), Virginia (No. 28) and Wake Forest (No. 24).
Players and coaches will be among a group that is treated to a private Darius Rucker concert to kick off the event.
Stanford will be led by Mariah Stackhouse, who was named the Pac-12 Golfer of the Month after helping the Cardinal to two wins and taking an individual win.
Arizona State junior Noemi Jimenez heads into the tournament as defending individual champion. She shot 4 under last year at the tournament last year. Alabama's Stephanie Meadow shot a final-round 67 to lead the team to a four-stroke win over Vanderbilt and LSU last year.
