Tracker: Tiger fires 66, 3 back of leader Reed at Doral

Tiger Woods during the third round of the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral.

Tiger Woods used eight birdies to card a 6-under 66 and work his way back into contention Saturday at the WGC-Cadillac Championship.

The World No. 1 is 1 under for the tournament, three shots back of leader Patrick Reed, who shot 69 Saturday at Trump National Doral. Reed is two shots head of Jason Dufner (68) and Hunter Mahan (71).

A day after high winds made scoring conditions difficult, low numbers were easier to achieve in Round 3. Jimmy Walker, the FedEx Cup leader, shot 67 to move back to 1 over while Phil Mickelson will enter Sunday at 2 over after a third-round 69.

Here's how it all unfolded Saturday in Doral, Fla.:

• • •

Dustin Johnson birdies the 18th to get back to even par overall while Patrick Reed pars the hole to cap a 3-under 69.

• • •

Update No. 10: 5:41 p.m. EST

Some bad luck for Patrick Reed at the 17th as his tee shot ends up near the lip of a fairway bunker. He's short with his approach, but gets up and down for par to stay at 4 under. Reed leads by two shots after Hunter Mahan's bogey at the 18th dropped him to 2 under.

• • •

Update No. 9: 5:27 p.m. EST

Patrick Reed drives the green at the par-4 16th and two-putts for birdie to move back to 4 under.

• • •

Update No. 8: 5:24 p.m. EST

Tough three-putt bogey for Patrick Reed at the par-3 15th, and it drops him to 3 under along with Hunter Mahan, who just saved par at the 17th.

• • •

Update No. 7: 5:10 p.m. EST

Hunter Mahan drives the green at the par-4 16th and two-putts for birdie to move to 3 under.

• • •

Update No. 6: 5:05 p.m. EST

Dustin Johnson drives it right and into trouble at the par-4 14th. He tries to hit it out of the bushes and the ball hits the cart path and bounces right back at him. He eventually ends up with double bogey to drop to 1 over.

• • •

Update No. 5: 4:22 p.m. EST

Dustin Johnson drops another shot, bogeying the 11th to fall back to 1 under. Meanwhile, Patrick Reed birdies the 11th to take a two-shot lead at 4 under. Reed is 3 under today thanks in part to his eagle at the eighth (see video above; Mobile readers can watch it by clicking here).

And now Patrick Reed has the outright lead at 3 under after Hunter Mahan can drop a par putt from about 20 feet at the 11th hole.

Patrick Reed taps in a birdie at the par-5 10th to join Hunter Mahan at 3 under.

• • •

• • •

Update No. 1: 3:40 p.m. EST

Patrick Reed drains a 40-foot eagle putt at the eighth hole to tie the leaders at 2 under, but then his playing competitor Dustin Johnson makes birdie at No. 8 to move to 3 under.
