Kent State will now have the challenge of protecting a one-shot lead at the General Hackler Championship after shooting 16-over 592 in two rounds Monday at TPC of Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet, S.C.

The Golden Flashes, ranked 22nd by Golfweek, got off to a slow start in the morning with a 17-over 305, but rebounded in the afternoon by shooting 1 under as a team. East Carolina and Middle Tennessee State are tied for second at 17 over while East Tennessee State is three shots back at 19 under and Iowa State is five shots behind.

East Tennessee State's Rhys Pugh, a European Walker Cup player last fall, leads individually at 1 under while Kent State's Corey Conners, the 2013 Porter Cup champ, is in a three-way tie for second with Coastal Carolina's Andrew Dorn and North Carolina-Wilmington's Payne McLeod. The trio is one shot back at even par.
