Illinois jumps out to big lead at Louisiana Classics

Illinois opened the Louisiana Classics with a two-round, 27-under 549 on Monday to take the lead heading into Tuesday's third and final round at Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette, La.

The seventh-ranked Illini have all five starters currently inside the top 10. Brian Campbell, who finished runner-up last week at the USF Invitational, leads at 9-under 135 – he shot 6-under 66 in the second round Monday afternoon. Thomas Detry (fourth), Charlie Danielson (T-5), David Kim (T-5) and Jonathan Hauter (T-10) are all within seven shots of the lead.

LSU's Curtis Thompson is second, one shot back, while the 31st-ranked Tigers are second as a team, 13 shots behind Illinois at 14 under.
