Houston, Robledo win at Border Olympics

Houston's Robledo Roman won the individual title while leading the Cougars to victory at the SMU Querencia Cabo Collegiate.

Houston won its third straight tournament of the season – and its fourth overall – at the Border Olympics on March 15.

The Cougars were nine shots back of Oklahoma entering the final round at Laredo (Texas) Country Club, but shot 8-under 280 in the final round for a one-shot victory. The team shot 6-under 858 total at the par-72, 7,375-yard course.

Oklahoma finished in second. Baylor finished in third with a three-round total of 1-under 863. Louisiana-Monroe finished in fourth at 15 over and Texas-San Antonio placed fifth at 19 over.

Also, for the third tournament in a row, Roman Robledo snatched the individual title. Robledo was three shots back heading into Saturday's round and shot 2-under 70 for a two-shot win. He finished at 7-under 209.

Baylor’s Jerry Ruiz finished in second at 5-under 211 and Oklahoma’s Michael Gellerman finished in third at 4 under.
