Powers from the ACC, Big 12 and SEC will face off with the top guns of the Atlantic Sun and Big South at the Linger Longer Invitational. The tournament will be held Saturday through Sunday at the Great Waters Golf Club at Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Ga.

Seven top-50 teams from the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings will play at the par-72, 7,063-yard course, representing traditional power conferences and mid-majors, alike.

The field includes Alabama (No. 1), Charlotte, Chattanooga, Clemson (No. 22), Furman, Georgia (No. 5), Kennesaw State (No. 37), Liberty (No. 39), Mercer (No. 36), Michigan State, North Florida, Oklahoma (No. 13), South Alabama, Southern Mississippi and Yale.

"The golf course is terrific and is a perfect venue for this championship caliber event," Kennesaw State head coach Jay Moseley said in a release. "We didn't fare too well the last time we played against some of the nation's best teams, but our guys have worked hard to remove that bitter taste and we are a much better team now than we were earlier in the year. I'm looking forward to watching our guys compete well this weekend."

The Alabama Crimson may have a target on its back, coming into the tournament as the No. 1 team in the country and the defending champions of the event.

Alabama senior Cory Whitsett led the team to the title last year with a medalist performance. Whitsett finished the tournament at 7 under, and the Crimson Tide won by 16 strokes.

Alabama has won five tournaments this year, but has finished second and fourth in its past two events.
