Ortiz wins 1st Web.com Tour title in Panama

Carlos Ortiz won the Panama Claro Championship on Sunday to earn his first Web.com Tour title. The former North Texas player shot a 6-under 64 in the final round at Panama Golf Club for a four-shot victory.

Ortiz, 22, finished at 12-under 268 and earned $112,500, and jumped from seventh to second on the Web.com Tour money list for a total of $171,500. The Mexico native is $63,650 behind Alex Cejka, the winner of the season-opening Colombia Championship.

Jason Gore finished second at 8 under. Former Florida State player Daniel Berger, Derek Fathauer and Aron Price finished in a tie for third at 7 under.

Other notable finishes include former Alabama standout Justin Thomas and Brazil Champions winner Jon Curran (T-15, 3-under 277), 2013 NCAA Individual champion Max Homa (T-51, 3-over 283) and 2012 Web.com Tour money leader Casey Wittenberg (T-70, 7-over 287).
