Ga. Tech, Schniederjans win Valspar Collegiate

Georgia Tech and Ollie Schniederjans swept titles at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational at the Floridian on March 25.

The Yellow Jackets, No. 4 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, finished the 54-hole tournament at 15-under 837 on the par-71, 7,076-yard course in Palm City, Fla.

No. 2 Oklahoma State finished in second at 7 under, eight shots back of Georgia Tech. Texas A&M, lead by Andrew Lister, finished in third place at 6 under. LSU finished another shot back in fourth place. Arkansas and SMU tied for fifth place at 4 under.

Schniederjans, ranked sixth individually by Golfweek, shot three consecutive rounds of 67 to capture his third individual title of the season. It’s his first title since the U.S. Collegiate Championship in October.

With the victory, Schniederjans earns a sponsor exemption into the PGA Tour’s 2015 Valspar Championship at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Fla.

LSU’s Stewart Jolly finished in second at 10 under. Lister and Florida State’s Jack Maguire, who started the day atop the leaderboard, finished in a tie for third at 9 under.
