Player diary: Alabama's Emma Talley (Part 8)
Wednesday, April 2, 2014
A lot of things have happened since last time. My play in Hilton Head was a little rough again, but I learned a lot about my game. Right after the tournament, I found out I was selected to be on this year’s Curtis Cup. The news I got was so exciting! I cannot wait for the opportunity to play for my country. My past experiences playing for the USA have been incredible and I know this will be nothing but amazing. To be picked with the group of girls that got chosen is an honor in itself. The players that surround my name on the team have had so much success and I cannot wait to play with my friends in a huge tournament for our country. After we got back from Hilton Head, I had a hectic week at school with four tests and a project due, but I got through it and then it was time for spring break.
Spring break was amazing and fortunately I get an extra-long break because I got a sponsor’s exemption to play in a LPGA event - the Kraft Nabisco Championship this week. I could not feel more blessed to be a part of a major championship. This will be my third LPGA event. I played in two U.S. Women’s Open Championship in high school. My first one I missed the cut; however, the second one I made the cut finishing tied for 46th. This week my goal is to keep a smile on my face, enjoy the experience, and just play golf. This is a great opportunity to learn and get better. This will only be my second time to go to California. Not only will this be an experience for me, but also my dad. He had caddied for me several times and he'll be working the bag. I am so excited because he keeps me calm and we have so much fun! My mom and swing coaches are coming too! I have such a great support staff. To say the least I am very blessed. I will let y’all know how it goes.
