Junior Invitational players receive Nike Free 5.0 shoes

The Nike Free 5.0s Junior Invitational participants received from tournament sponsor Nike Golf.

Participants in the recent Junior Invitational at Sage Valley received a special treat from tournament sponsor Nike Golf.

Each player – 54 from around the world – received a pair of the Nike Free 5.0s designed by Sam Horsfield, one of the top-ranked junior in the Class of 2015, through NikeiD.

Horsfield and Travis Thompson of Nike Golf's Sports Marketing division communicated via email to get the shoe designed in time for the tournament April 24-26. One stipulation? It had to be green and yellow – the tournament colors.

"JISV" (Junior Invitational at Sage Valley) was embroidered on the tongue.

Horsfield choose the 5.0s to "give the guys the most support," Thompson said.

Nike categorizes the 5.0 as a running shoe, but it can be worn for golf.
