Expert picks: HP Byron Nelson Championship

Keegan Bradley during his first-round 60 at the 2013 HP Byron Nelson Championship in Irving, Texas.

After last year's course-record 60 and a win in 2011, it makes sense that Keegan Bradley is among the favorites for this week's HP Byron Nelson Championship on PGA Tour.

Jim McCabe, senior writer

Favorite: Keegan Bradley

Don’t forget about: Jason Dufner

Keep an eye on: Rory Sabbatini

Sleeper: Brian Stuard

Comments: Bradley has the poor-Players, good-Nelson thing; in 2011 he finished 72nd at the Players, then won Nelson the next week. Last year he missed the cut at the Players, then finished second at the Nelson. So missing the cut at Players bodes well. … Dufner knows he has to kick it into gear and Sabbatini has been trending nicely, thank you. … As for Stuard, here’s a nod to an unheralded name who quietly pops onto leaderboards when you least expect it.

Jeff Rude, senior writer

Favorite: Jordan Spieth

Keep an eye on: Matt Kuchar

Don't forget about: Jimmy Walker

Sleeper: John Senden

Comments: Fresh off finishing three strokes back at The Players, Spieth is back in the comfort of a home game in suburban Dallas. … Kuchar plays well every week. … Texan Jimmy Walker has won three times this season. … John Senden won in March, tied for eighth at Masters and contended at Players until bad final day.

Adam Schupak, senior writer

Winner: Keegan Bradley

Don’t forget about: Matt Kuchar, Jordan Spieth

Keep an eye on: Gary Woodland, Charl Schwartzel

Sleepers: Ryan Palmer, Brooks Koepka

Comments: Keegan Bradley has been a stud at the Byron Nelson with a win in 2011 and a course-record 60 last year (finished second). … Kuchar is a top-10 machine. … Spieth has a home game and could definitely sting back after a stinging defeat at The Players. … Woodland has made 12 consecutive cuts and his game is close. … I just can’t figure out why Schwartzel hasn’t won more on the PGA Tour. … Palmer lost a playoff to Bradley here in 2011. … Koepka can bomb it around TPC Four Seasons Resort. Should be a fun one to watch.
