There are few sure things on the PGA Tour, but Matt Kuchar working his way past the cut is close. When he shot 72-70 at Colonial, Kuchar missed just his second cut in 14 starts – and that’s one more cut than he missed in 2013 and 2012 combined.

Kuchar went perfect a year ago, 23 for 23, and he was 21 out of 22 the previous season.

Since 2010, Kuchar has made the cut in 101 of his 109 starts.

Similarly, when he shot 71-73 at Colonial, Pat Perez missed his first cut of the 2013-14 season since last October in Las Vegas. He had made 14 in a row and while that didn’t make headlines, it was unprecedented consistency for Perez.

The most consecutive cuts he had made in any season had been seven (five times) and there were years when he didn’t make more than three cuts in a row.

ROUGH PATCH: After having brushed off a rough start to make a little run at the Accenture Match Play Championship (third), Shell Houston Open (sixth) and Masters (tie for fifth), Rickie Fowler has hit another valley. In his last four tournaments, Fowler has missed two cuts, posted an MDF and finished T-38, playing 11 rounds in 21 over.

STUMBLES: Scott Stallings’ curious season continued at Colonial, where he shot 74-68 to miss yet another cut. He’s missed eight of the last nine and 11 of 17, yet you can find him in the thick of things with the FedEx Cup points. He’s 57th in the standings, thanks mostly to a victory at the Farmers Insurance, because his next best finish in a stroke-play tournament is a T-45.
