Not only did Chris Kirk's victory at the Deutsche Bank Championship make Kirk a front-runner for one of Tom Watson's captain's picks for the U.S. Ryder Cup team (the picks will be announced Tuesday night), but it also moved him into the top 25 of the Official World Golf Ranking.
Kirk climbed 20 spots, from 45th to 25th, in the latest world rankings, marking the biggest jump for the Georgia product since he went from 94th to 56th following a victory at last year's McGladrey Classic. His previous best ranking was 41st, which came after a T-28 at this year's U.S. Open.
Kirk also rose to 17th in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. Click here to see the complete rankings.
Also moving up was Bud Cauley, who secured his PGA Tour card for another season by winning the Web.com Tour Finals opener, the Hotel Fitness Championship. Cauley moved to 187th, climbing 83 spots from No. 270. It's the best world ranking for the former Alabama standout since he was ranked 176th following last year's Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
