Canada holds 2nd-round lead at Women’s WATC

Brooke Mackenzie continues to pace Canada at the Women's World Amateur Team Championship.

After Round 2 of the Women’s World Amateur Team Championship, Canada continues to lead with a two-round total of 14-under 274 at Karuizawa (Japan) 72 Golf East.

Brooke Mackenzie Henderson (69) and Brittany Marchard (70) led Canada to a second-round total of 5-under 139 on the Iriyama course. Their 36-hole total tied the second-lowest in Women’s WATC history.

Japan, which was 16th after the first round, shot a second-round 12-under 132, the second-lowest team score for any round in the championship. Mirami Katsu shot 7-under 65 to help lift the Japanese into second place. Teammate Eri Okayama shot 67.

Two-time defending champion South Korea sits third at 277.

Team USA shares 10th place at 282, eight shots back. ULCA sophomore Alison Lee and U.S. Amateur champion Kristen Gillman shot 70s. Alabama junior Emma Talley, who shot 72, did not have her score count for a second consecutive day.
