Ian Poulter apologizes to Bubba Watson for hitting out of turn
AUGUSTA, Ga. – It’s not often that Ian Poulter outdrives Bubba Watson. So when the Englishman accidentally played out of turn on the par-4 seventh hole Friday at the Masters, it was hard to blame Poulter.
“I hit my shot and then looked back because I forgot Bubba hit iron off the tee,” Poulter said. “… It doesn’t happen often that Bubba is hitting before me.”
Following the mistake, Poulter threw his hands up and then was animated as he conversed with Watson in the fairway. However, it was no argument that took place.
“I apologized to him,” Poulter said.
Poulter and Watson both made the cut, however, neither are in great position. Poulter shot 6-over 78 and is now T-33 at 3 over. Watson carded a 75 and made the cut on the number at 6 over.
