Tiger Woods pushes WGC-Bridgestone ratings up
Despite opening a large lead with a 61 Friday that had many golf fans assuming victory would be his, Tiger Woods pushed ratings for the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational broadcast on CBS Sports to markedly higher numbers than the 2012 tournament – about 155 percent higher for the weekend, according to a news release.
The third round delivered the highest Saturday numbers in seven years for the tournament, at a rating of 3.0 and a share of 8. By comparison, the numbers for last year, when Keegan Bradley won, were 1.1 and 3.
The final-round rating of 3.8 and share of 9 were the highest since 2009.
The winner who drove the previous high numbers in 2006 and '09? You might have guessed it: Woods, who has won the tournament eight times.
