Tuesday, February 12, 2013
No. 6 Alabama won the Lady Puerto Rico Classic on Tuesday, shooting 7-over 871 to run away with the title by 13 shots. Arkansas’ Emily Tubert won the individual title by one shot with a 3-under 213 total at Rio Mar CC’s River Course.
This marks Tubert’s first win of the season and her fourth victory of her Razorback career. Tubert is No. 65 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings. She shot 70-70-73 at Rio Mar. Texas Tech’s Kimberly Kaufman and Alabama’s Stephanie Meadow finished in a tie second.
This is the fourth time in the past six years Alabama has won the team title at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic. Dating back to the fall, the Crimson Tide has won or tied for first in the last two tournaments they have entered. Their third-round even-par 288 total was tied for the low team score of the tournament.
