UCLA opened its spring on Wednesday with a victory at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge. It’s the first victory this season for the Bruins, and sophomore Erynne Lee also earned the first individual trophy.

UCLA, No. 38 in Golfweek’s rankings, finished nine shots ahead of No. 3-ranked USC. The Bruins finished 54 holes at Palos Verdes Golf Club at 18-over 870, and separated themselves from the field in Round 3. UCLA shot 7-over 291, the best score of the day. USC shot a third-round 301.

Duke was third, two shots behind USC, and Texas finished fourth. Florida, a team that had two victories in the fall, rounded out the top 5.

Also different from this fall, UCLA had Tiffany Lua in the lineup at Palos Verdes. The senior sat out the entire fall with a sore wrist, but finished T-5 with the Bruins' Lee Lopez. Both finished at 5-over 218 for the week. Lee’s winning score was even-par 213.

Oklahoma State’s Kelsey Vines finished second, and USC freshman Kyung Kim was third.
