First-round leader Zachary Olsen reclaimed his place at the top of the Southern Amateur leaderboard on Friday after a third-round 68. The Oklahoma State signee is 11 under after 54 holes at The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas.
Olsen, who won the Sage Valley Junior Invitational in 2012, kept the big numbers off his card Friday. His second-round 73, which dropped him to a tie for fifth, included a triple bogey at the par-3 seventh.
Joey Garber, who plays for the University of Georgia, posted a third-round 67 and at 9-under 207, is solo second. Former Texas Tech player Finley Ewing IV is part of a three-way tie for third at 208 that includes the University of California’s Michael Weaver and Georgia Tech’s Richy Werenski.
With a 76, second-round leader Kevin Marsh, a mid-amateur from Las Vegas, dropped to a six-way tie for sixth.
