Coalson goes wire-to-wire at Cardinal Amateur

Taylor Coalson, a sophomore at UNC Greensboro, shot even-par 70 Sunday to complete a wire-to-wire victory at the Cardinal Amateur in Greensboro, N.C.
Coalson, of Dobson, N.C., never trailed after his opening-round 65 and finished with a 4-under 206 in the 54-hole event at Sedgefield Country Club's Dye Course. He led by five shots heading into the final round and ended it with the same margin.
Coalson was the Southern Conference Co- Freshman of the Year last season, when he led the Spartans in scoring with a 74.19 average and posted four top-10 finishes, including a runner-up at the Southern Conference Championship.
Eric Brady, an East Carolina senior, moved from a tie for 13th to solo second with a 3-under 67 Sunday, tied for the final day's best. Another East Carolina senior, Ryan Eibner (68), and Clemson sophomore Miller Capps (70) tied for third at 2-over 212.
