Stanford won its own U.S. Intercollegiate on Saturday, finishing six shots ahead of runner-up TCU.
The Cardinal had an 11-shot lead entering the final round, and held off a hard-charging TCU team. Stanford shot 6-under 274 at Stanford University Golf Course while TCU came in with a final-round 269. Stanford’s 23-under 217 meant the first title for the Cardinal this season.
St. Mary’s (Calif.) finished third, six shots behind TCU and San Francisco was fourth, another two shots behind that. UC Davis rounded out the top 5.
Individually, TCU’s Paul Barjon edged Stanford’s Patrick Rodgers by three shots to take the individual title. The two were tied entering the final round after opening with back-to-back rounds of 66, but Barjon shot a 67 to Rodgers’ 70 in the final round. It would have been Rodgers’ fourth victory this season.
Andrew Yun (third) and Cameron Wilson (fifth) also finished in the top 5 for Stanford.
