Brad Dalke, Sam Burns and Nathan Jeansonne spent their spring break hanging out and playing golf together in Shreveport, La.
Now all three find themselves in the quarterfinals of the Polo Golf Junior Classic after each won two matches on Wednesday at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
Dalke defeated Michael Pisciotta, 1 up, in the Round of 32 before knocking off Paul Elissalde, 4 and 3, in the Round of 16. The Oklahoma commit, who is searching for his third AJGA invitational victory of 2013, will face Cameron Young in Thursday's quarterfinals. Young won his Round-of-16 match against Andy Zhang on the 20th hole.
Burns, who recently committed to LSU, routed Grant Hirschman, 6 and 5, in the Round of 16 after beating Aaron Terrazas, 3 and 2, in the Round of 32. He will play Jorge Garcia, a 5-and-4 winner over Robin Wang, in the quarterfinals.
Jeansonne posted a 3-and-2 victory over Wilson Furr in the Round of 32 before ousting Kristian Caparros in 19 holes to advance to Thursday's quarterfinal match against Austin Connelly, who knocked off top-seeded Derek Castillo in the Round of 32.
The fourth quarterfinal matchup will pit 2013 U.S. Junior champ and AJGA Rolex Junior Player of the Year Scottie Scheffler against Sam Horsfield, who had quite the match-play performance at the U.S. Junior, as well.
On the girls side, stroke-play medalist and top seed Kristen Gillman beat Andrea Lee, 5 and 4, to move on to the quarterfinals. She will play Dylan Kim on Thursday.
The other three girls quarterfinal matches are Alabama signee Lakareber Abe vs. Lilia Vu, Linnea Strom vs. Bethany Wu, and Sierra Brooks vs. Jillian Hollis.
