Jack Nicklaus introduces a line of golf balls

Jack Nicklaus, winner of 18 major championships and 73 PGA Tour events, announced that golfers soon will be able to purchase three Nicklaus-branded golf balls.
The various models are designed to accommodate the needs of players with varying skill levels.
"We decided to make three golf balls based on the tee markers that one would play," Nicklaus said in a statement released Sept. 30. The Nicklaus Black is designed for more-accomplished golfers who play from the back tees, the Nicklaus Blue is for golfers who play from the middle tees, and the Nicklaus White is ideal for seniors, women and juniors who play from forward tees.
"From the tees you play, we know your swing speed," Nicklaus said. "This is paramount when choosing a golf ball. But no matter the percentage of players who know their swing speed, 100 percent of them know the tees they play."
The golf balls, which will be manufactured by Bridgestone, begin shipping in November. They will be sold at pro shops of more than 200 Nicklaus Design golf courses in the United States. A percentage of sales will be donated to the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation. In shops, the Nicklaus Black will sell for $50 per dozen, the Nicklaus Blue and White will be $46.
In addition, the new line of golf balls will be available at nicklaus.com – with special discount pricing intended to promote charitable giving. The online price will be $32 for the Black and $28 for the Blue and White with Nicklaus requesting voluntary contributions of up to $20 per dozen. Such donations also will support Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation.
"We all know that the game of golf can be challenging enough, so we are trying to simplify the decision-making process of selecting the right golf ball," Nicklaus said. "By buying these balls, players will get the added benefit of supporting these wonderful charities that help children in need as well as the families that dearly love them."
