What a day for Cal Golf! We have just won our third consecutive tournament of the fall, and no better place to do it than Sonoma Golf Club. The venue was splendid, from top to bottom. I heard many players talking about how the sandwich they had during the 36-hole round was the best they ever had in college golf. Indeed, the food was amazing, and the conditions were absolutely perfect.
Although we did not have Michael Kim in the lineup as he is recovering from a cold, it was nice to have Keelan Kilpatrick, a New Zealand native and a great friend of mine, in the lineup. Keelan definitely earned his spot during qualifying, shooting some low rounds, and even if it did not go as well as he wanted during the tournament, I have no doubt he will be a pillar for the program in the next few years. Keep an eye on him folks!
We are now back in the groove of balancing school and golf while also getting ready for our last event of the fall. It is quite hard as we would just want to practice at the moment, but we are all swamped with work, not to mention that three of us will have to take an exam after the second round next week. This is definitely one of the tough parts of college golf.
The team and I are really excited for our next tournament, which will be at Isleworth in Florida. It is probably one of the most fun events of the year on a spectacular golf course. It is great that we have some momentum going into arguably the best regular season event of the season. We definitely have some confidence from winning last season and hopefully we can make it four in a row!
